Keukenhof Garden and Flower Field at Lisse

24 April 2016

There were so many ways to reach Keukenhof. We chose to go there via Leiden. From Leiden train station, there was a special bus that go directly to Keukenhof. The trip was about 25 minutes.

The bus stopped at the main entrance of the Keukenhof Garden. But we decided to explore the surrounding area first to visit some of the flower fields (Because in the garden, we can not find the flower field).

The most beautiful spot was in Zwartelaan. From the main entrance, we turned left and just follow the road to get to Zwaterlaan. There were some flower fields full with tulips in various colors. The best spot was the flower field with the windmill as a background, which is located near the side entrance (not the main entrance) of Keukeunhof Garden. We can not enter this site, but still, we can get a nice picture in this area. Then we just entered the Keukenhof Garden from this entrance. The price is EUR 16 (adult) and EUR 8 (child 4-11)

Keukenhof Garden is one of the best spring garden in the world. There are more than 7 million bulbs in bloom this spring, with a total of 800 varieties of tulips. Every year the garden has a theme, and for this year, the theme is The Golden Age. One of the most interesting spot in the garden is the Blue Bell Path.

In the Oranje Nassau Pavilion, we can see different type of tulips, including the black tulips. And beside the Pavilliom, we can see the flower bulb mosaic that shows a Delft Blue tile on which the trade across the seas and the rich canal-side houses of Amsterdam are depicted. The mosaic covers an area of 250m2. There are 100.000 flower bulbs used.

Besides the flowers, Keukenhof is also fun place for children. Here, they can play in the playground, visit the petting farm or finding their way in the maze.
