Hillegom, Flower Field in Netherlands
Hillegom
17 April 2016
When we think about Netherlands, we must think about tulip. And when we think about tulip, we must think about Keukenhof. Same with us. We always thinking to see the flower strip field in Keukenhof, until... we did our research in the web and found out that if we want to see the flower strip field, Keukenhof is not the place! We should go to town flower area. One of the town is Hillegom.
It was very easy to reach Hillegom, we just took train from Den Haag. It was only 30 minutes ride. Approching the Hillegom Station, we already saw the flower strip. When we got off the train, we were in the middle of flower strip. We saw the beautiful red flower strip from the train platform.
Outside the station, there were a map to go to the flower field. We followed the route on the map. From the station, we turned right until we reached the main road, and then turned right again until we reached the bridge. From this spot, we walked along the river. The flower strip were across the river. To get to the flower site, there were some raft pier. We must operate the raft by ourselves. We need to pull the rope to make the raft move. It was really fun!
When we finally got to the other side of the river, we can see, smell and touch (gently) all the beautiful flowers. They were planted in very neat line. Some field had one color flower field, some had mixed color flower field. It was really a breathtaking view. We can see not only tulips, but also other flowers in the site.
After enjoying all the beautiful scenery, we went back to the train station. We went to Haarlem. From here, it took only 10 minutes by train.
